Carter-Westminster United Presbyterian Church joyfully invites you...
To join us in celebration of tradition and the Christmas season!
Join us on Sunday, December 7th at 3:00pm for a beloved annual tradition at Carter-Westminster United Presbyterian Church: the singing of Handel’s Messiah and celebration of the Christmas season.
This concert is open to the public and free to attend. Read more about the program, our church, and more below!
Pat Composed by George Frideric Handel in 1741, this first portion of the iconic English oratorio features text drawn from the prophecies of Isaiah in the Hebrew Bible. The text of the libretto, or the book, was set by Charles Jennens. In three movements, the words reflect on the promise of the birth of a Savior from Isaiah, the annunciation to the shepherds in the Gospel of Luke, and culminating in scenes from the Gospels describing the work of the Messiah.
Our program also features a carol sing-a-long and other festive selections, featuring soloists and musicians from the Chicagoland region, such as:
Angela De Venuto, soprano
Stephanie Sanchez, mezzo soprano
Josh Wheeker, tenor
Leo Radosavljevic, bass
The Carter-Westminster Chancel Choir
George Radosavljevic, harpsichord
Our program is conducted by Carter Westminster’s music director, Pat Radosavljevic.
