Music

Our music programs are a great strength to our church’s ministry and a wonderful way to get involved in the life of our church. Membership is always open to everyone, so please find your place in the musical life of our church.  Special music is prepared for Easter, Christmas and other special services throughout the year. A major highlight is the annual Handel’s “Messiah” service presented by the Chancel Choir and members of the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists and Musicians. Our Contemporary Worship Team also hosts extra musical activities, such as Youth Revivals and a Summer Block Party.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir participates in the 10:45 AM Traditional Worship Service by leading hymns and sharing special anthems.  Practice is held every Thursday at 7:30 PM (September through June).  The Choir is excused during the summer months while soloists and guest musicians provide special music.

Children’s Choir

Children are encouraged to participate in this enriching vocal experience to have fun, learn music, and develop their God-given talents. They meet to practice during the beginning of the Sunday School hour at 10:45 AM.

Handbell Choir

Our Handbell Choir is often featured during the Traditional Worship Service at 11:00 AM.  Practices are scheduled as needed.

Praise and Celebration/Contemporary Worship Team

The 9:30 PM Praise and Celebration service, a contemporary blend of upbeat & reflective praise songs, is led by the worship team which consists of vocalists and instrumentalists—keyboards, guitars & drums. Our band practices every Saturday (usually 2:00 PM) and we are always open to anyone who is interested in being involved in musical or technical areas.

Sunday School

Our Sunday School, with classes for all ages, provides an opportunity to develop closer      relationships with each other through study and fellowship. A deeper study of biblical truth aids our spiritual growth through an  increased understanding of God and how He works in the lives of His people. A special Communicants class is offered to prepare youth to become members of the church. In addition to regular weekly classes, all youth also have opportunities to be involved in the extra activities such as the Sunday School Christmas program.

Youth Group

New Lyfe youth group meets on Tuesday evenings from 7:15pm to 8:45pm for a small group bible study, snacks, and Christian fellowship. Once a month we make an effort to serve in a community environment as well as go on outings with the youth.  In addition, we also organize summer and winter retreats and mission trips, accompanied by adult volunteers and leader. If you’re ever looking for a place for your youth to grow spiritually and to experience a night of laughter and games, come join us at CWUPC New Lyfe youth group. Please contact Justin Lowry for more information lowry91@gmail.com

CWUPC New Lyfe youth group. The newest addition to the Carter-Westminster Youth program is the C-W Miracles. Led once a month by our congregation’s high school and college students, the children enjoy a Bible lesson, crafts, games, and snacks, all based on a particular theme.

Assyrian Missions

The Assyrian Fellowship at Carter Westminster Presbyterian Church was established with the vision to support the local Assyrian communities and newly arriving immigrants.

Assyrian Fellowship Bible Study

The weekly Assyrian Fellowship Bible Study (Friday, 7:00-9:00 PM) helps Assyrians become influential members of their communities by addressing spiritual, physical, and social needs while mentoring them to become active disciples of Jesus Christ.  This AFBS serves its members through fellowship meeting, exciting media broadcasts, groups which provide discipleship and training in marriage, family and community relationships.

Assyrian Sunday School

A Weekly Assyrian Sunday School (Sunday, 10:00-11:00 AM)

Assyrian Revivals

Revivals are co-hosted by Carter Westminster though out the year.  These are located at CWUPC and other local churches with a strong Assyrian population.

C-W Café

The C-W Café is open on the second Saturday of each month from 7:30-9:30 PM. This is a free coffeehouse & open mic for all members of the community.  Come share your talent or just come to enjoy a relaxed Saturday Night of coffee & snacks and fantastic entertainment.

C-W Players

The C-W Players present short skits, full dramas, videos and other creative forms of worship at our services.  These are often based on Scripture and serve as an alternative way to share God’s Word.  This group, for all ages, gathers on scheduled Sundays.
